Adjusting to life with recently diagnosed three year old with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (as told by his mom, Michelle)

12.15.2005

caleb lost his blankie at mr. gatti's this evening. we were so sad!!! it was like losing a family pet or something. he was crying when we tried to explain to him that it might not be returned. he's had it forever. it's actually a towel but it was always big enough to be a small blankie. it's pink & white striped. i think it actually used to belong to caitlyn but somehow he ended up becoming attached to it. we never put much weight into girl colors/boy colors or girl toys/boy toys. being twins, we have them share everything. (for the record, he prefers boy toys & she prefers girl toys!) so anyway, i left my name & number with a worker & we got a call back later that a girl found it. i was so excited!!! i'm washing it right now & caleb's gonna be so excited when he wakes up in the morning. there's like this whole thread on it on del rio soapbox. the link is in the sidebar. you don't need to register to view... my caitlyn, caitlyn, caitlyn...she's starting to display behaviors that mimic her brother when he's on a rampage. she threw some toys earlier this evening. she's been crying (actually more like screaming like a banshee) for such minor things. she's back to being scared of balls and balloons. she even freaked out with a deflated balloon that caleb was trying to blow up. i think she's becoming more confident in herself as she's maturing into a pre-schooler & while she's at it demanding more attention. i try to give her more attention. I think that's what my new year's resolution is going to be. Try to be a better parent & find ways to spend more meaningful time with the kids. I try to do resolutions that help me be a better person instead of giving something up like soda or junk food. It feels more meaningful to me that way & is easier to keep. i don't think i made a resolution at all last year.
